I spent an exciting, creative and intense year and a half working with Albert Elbilia and Stephane Losq while creating the book Market Chronicles, Stories & Recipes from Montreal's Marché Jean-Talon. This was my first cookbook, a collection of recipes and stories from one of my favourite places on earth. From the start, working with the Albert on photography and design was an intimate, collaborative work. This is a person who cares deeply about each and every project. He's a passionate professionals who will go an extra 100 miles whether it's to capture the right light for a food photograph or to find the perfect font for a page layout. Through it all, we always had a good time. And the book, with its luminous portraits and exquisite page design, has gone on to be a best-seller that has won several awards.

C'était l'enfer!  Toujours,toujours dans ma lumière, parle sans arrêt…… un flot ininterrompu de mots!!! Mais je l'adore ce Albert pour son implication, son talent et sa persévérance. Pour moi il fais parti d'un tout petit groupe de personnes avec qui sa connecte rapidement et sans difficultés. On peu dire que sa c'est passé dans une certaine allégresse, j'espère qu'on pourras remettre ça!

I can’t speak highly enough about Albert’s photography. Working with Albert has been such a pleasure. He’s photographed several stories for Organic Gardening magazine and each time he has produced fantastic work - if only we had unlimited space I'd put all his photos in the story! In December 2013 Organic Gardening won the "Best single article in the Consumer: Shelter/Home category" at the 2013 Eddie & Ozzie awards (Celebrating Excellence in magazine Editorial & Design) with the "Spring's Sweet Harvest" article by Susan Semenak & Albert Elbilia. I can’t wait to work with Albert again! I look forward to continue working with him on many more projects in the future.

Stimulating, engaging and entertaining. Professionalism, adaptability and a sense of adventure were much in evidence. He enthusiastically accepted the challenge of natural light food photography in the dim light setting of the Arctic winter.  The working conditions were modest and we were inexperienced, but, thanks to elbilia, there was light and laughter, and a beautiful end product that is now being used to promote cooking in Nunavut. With this project, they proved they were able to step outside their usual working environment and achieve excellent results – a true sign of expertise, creativity and personal engagement.
